Managing Your Documents with the SearchPro R200

The SearchPro R200 is configured for you to immediately begin uploading your documents to the Dell R200 Document Storage Server. In most cases, you will simply FTP your documents directly to the server. You will also have full Remote Desktop access to the R200 Document Server, which allows you to setup a Windows folder and file structure for easy management of your document collections.

The search functionality of the Google Mini is largely automated and can be configued in a matter of minutes. Using an simple web-based Administative Interface, you can configure the Google Mini to immediately begin crawling and indexing the documents in your collection.

You can configure the Google Mini to perform a re-crawl of your documents every hour, day, week or which ever period suits your environment. Once the Google Mini is setup, you generally do not need to perform any ongoing system management or maintenance tasks. Just keep adding documents to your R200 Storage Server and the Mini will automatically find and index them.

Who is responsible for managing the hardware?

The advantage to the SearchPro R200 bundle is that Alentus is 100% responsible for managing and maintaining all of the hardware. If anything every goes wrong with any of the hardware, we will repair or replace it with no extra charges to you whatsoever.

How much disk space is available for my documents?

By default, you will have approximately 230 GB of disk space available for the storage of your documents. If you require more disk space, please contact our Server Solutions Experts for upgrade options.

Are backups available for my documents?

Backup services are optional for the SearchPro, depending on the size of your document collection. For more information on our backup services, please see SecureStor backups.

How do I allow my users to access the search results?

The Google Mini provides a URL (eg. search.mydomain.com) where your users can access the search results. The SearchPro Bundle provides the HTML code which lets you add a search box that's integrated with the Google Mini to web pages within your own website or dedicated document search portal. An example of this type of search page using a Google Mini can be found at:

Can I provide different user interfaces for different parts of my organization?

The Google Mini provides one user interface for search results that can be configured to meet your desired user interface look and feel. You can divide your site into different sections and let users search over just that section of the site using the Mini's subcollections feature. However, the search results user interface would be the same for all subcollections. Alternatively, you can have the Google Mini return results as XML and configure the look and feel on an external web server.
